Overview

The cultural explosion of video has created new career opportunities for students, and our production training provides the equipment and time necessary for students to develop a hands-on understanding of the tools, terminology and workflow of digital filmmaking. Located in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, Department of Studio Art, the Video Studio is the premiere production hub for digital filmmaking at UC Irvine.
Our in-depth, systematic study includes Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production courses that develop organizational skills and technical knowledge. The Issues/History courses focus on the study of important avant-garde film and video works that are understood as critical to the development of film & video making. Advanced Projects courses challenge students to put critical thinking and technical skill into action through the creation of original film & video works.
Through our curriculum we present a model of what it means to be a working digital film artist, and we believe in the quality of the students we produce.
